When copying and pasting content from one source to another, such as from a website or document into a Knowledge Base, it is important to be aware that additional styles may be added.

These extra styles can be unintentionally carried over along with the copied content, resulting in a visually inconsistent appearance within the Knowledge Base.

To remove the extra formatting, you just need to follow these steps:

  • The first option would be to select the content and click on Clear Formatting/Remove Format depending on the Editor you are using and this should resolve 99% of the cases.

New Editor

  • Select the text
  • Click on Remove Format

Old Editor

  • Select the text
  • Click on Clear Formatting

  • However, depending on the styles that are carried over, you may need to switch to the Code View/Source editor and edit the HTML.

New Editor

You can edit the HTML by clicking on the Source button.

Old Editor

You can edit the HTML by clicking on the Code View button.

⚠️ Content pasted with extra styles will override what is set in your theme and also what was customized.

Unfortunately, we don't have control over extra formatting as this isn't something we could tweak via regular frontend customization because it's related to extra styles added directly into the content itself.

For Future Articles/Changes

In order to avoid this issue, we recommend that you always paste content without extra styles (Command+ Option+ Shift+ V or Ctrl+ Shift+ V).

Why is the knowledge base important?

With a knowledge base, you can allow your customers to self-help themselves, thus reducing your customer support by up to 60%. Furthermore, you can also have your team get instant answers to the questions they need without having to email themselves all using knowledge base software.

What is the purpose of a knowledge base?

The purpose of knowledge base software is to allow you to host your knowledge base/corporate wiki in one centralized 'hub'. Both your customers, and employees can now access information within seconds!
