Steps to Edit a Category
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Click the Edit Icon next to the category you want to modify.
- The Edit Menu will appear, allowing you to make the following changes:
Icons and Custom Images
Select an icon from the library or upload a custom one.
For more information, see How To Update Category Icons.
Category Name
When you add a category name for the first time, we use that information to create the category slug.
However, if you update the category name, the article slug won't update automatically. If you also need to update the slug, you can adjust it manually.

Category Description
Provide a concise explanation of the category’s purpose. Some themes shows a default description when a custom description is not provided.
Category Slug
You can manage the URL for each category using its slug. If the slug is already in use by another category or article, Helpjuice will display a warning. This prevents conflicts, because using the same slug in multiple places can confuse the system and may result in incorrect redirects for users.
Category Location
You can move the category to a new section if necessary.
For more information, see How to Move Categories or Articles to a Different Folder .
Access Levels
Choose from Public, Internal, Private, or URL-Only.
For more information, see Overview: Accessibility.
Troubleshooting: Category Icons
Some knowledge base themes may hide icons by default.
This is fully customizable via theme settings. Contact support@helpjuice.com or Submit a Customization Request.
Best Practices
- Keep category names short and descriptive.
- Use clear, recognizable icons.
- Ensure descriptions accurately reflect the content in the category.
- Regularly review access levels to maintain proper visibility.
- Test changes on the frontend to confirm updates display correctly.
