How to Whitelist IPs What Happens When an IP is Not Whitelisted?

The Allowed IPs feature allows you to control access to your knowledge base by restricting it to specific IP addresses. This ensures that only users coming from approved networks or locations can view your content.

How to Whitelist IPs

Follow the steps below to set up allowed IPs:

  1. Go to Profile Settings: Click on your Profile Picture in the top-right corner and select Settings.
  2. Access the Accessibility & Privacy Section: In the settings menu, click on Accessibility & Privacy.
  3. Add Allowed IPs: In the Allowed IPs section, list the IP addresses that should have access to your knowledge base. Enter one IP address per line.
  4. Save Your Changes: Once you've added the necessary IPs, save the changes to enforce the restriction.

What Happens When an IP is Not Whitelisted?

If a user tries to access your knowledge base from an IP that is not whitelisted, they will be redirected to a 404 error page. This means they will not be able to view any content unless their IP is added to the allowed list.

Why is the knowledge base important?

With a knowledge base, you can allow your customers to self-help themselves, thus reducing your customer support by up to 60%. Furthermore, you can also have your team get instant answers to the questions they need without having to email themselves all using knowledge base software.

What is the purpose of a knowledge base?

The purpose of knowledge base software is to allow you to host your knowledge base/corporate wiki in one centralized 'hub'. Both your customers, and employees can now access information within seconds!
