Steps to Enable the Login Wall Customizing Your Login Page Embedded Knowledge Bases Best Practices

This article explains how to restrict access to your Helpjuice Knowledge Base by placing it behind a login wall. Once enabled, only logged-in users can view your content, ensuring that sensitive information remains secure. 

In this article, you’ll learn:

  • How to embed your Knowledge Base securely

Steps to Enable the Login Wall

To make sure only connected users access your knowledge base:

  1. Log Into Helpjuice
  2. Click on your Profile Picture > Settings
  3. Access the Accessibility & Privacy section
  4. Turn on the Use your knowledge base internally only? option

When this option is enabled, all content will be created as Internal by default, and you can also apply stricter rules by setting them to Private. Learn about Accessibility Rules → Overview: Accessibility.

Customizing Your Login Page

Your Login page can be customized in the Customize Area. Learn more about the Login Page → Custom Login Page.

If your Knowledge Base is public and you try to access Internal or Private content while logged out, you'll be redirected to the login page. 

 

Embedded Knowledge Bases

You can embed your Helpjuice Knowledge Base directly into your website, allowing you to control user authentication and leverage your existing user base. Additionally, Helpjuice supports multiple authentication methods to help streamline this process.

To embed your Knowledge Base:

  1. Ensure that your content is set to Public. To do this, go to Settings > Accessibility & Privacy and toggle off the "Use your knowledge base internally only?" option. If this is not done, users will be prompted with a Sign-In page.
  2. Enable the Accessible Only Via JavaScript option under the same Accessibility & Privacy settings. This will ensure your Knowledge Base is only accessible to users who are logged into your product, and it won’t be accessible directly from your Helpjuice subdomain (e.g., yoursubdomain.helpjuice.com). However, authenticated users will still be able to access it.

Best Practices

  • Review content regularly: Make sure sensitive articles remain restricted to Internal or Private.
  • Customize the login page: Branding your login page ensures consistency and clarity for your users.
  • Limit embedding to trusted applications: Only embed your Knowledge Base in environments where authentication is enforced.
  • Monitor access: Regularly check who has access and adjust as needed to maintain security.
